September 15, 2023 - Neonazis of Australia's NSN gang tried to attack an antifascist fundraiser, for the White Rose antifascist research society and the Black People's Union, at Gummo bar in Melbourne. Armed with knives and flying a nazi sonnenrad flag they gathered in front of the bar, but they were quickly confronted and chased off by the crowd of SHARP skinheads and other antifascists attending the gig.
The knife-wielding neonazis, forced into a pathetic retreat carrying their wounded members, were beaten with mic stands and chairs as they fled down the road, with several hiding in businesses along the way, seeking the protection of staff and security members of colour so they wouldnt be beaten further by the antifascists chasing them. Julian Assange is FREE!
Today marks a historic moment for press freedom and free speech advocates worldwide. After spending 1,901 harrowing days in Belmarsh Prison, Julian Assange is finally a free man. The news of his release, following a plea deal with the US, has brought tears of joy and relief to many who have tirelessly campaigned for his freedom.
Assange, 52, has been a central figure in the fight for transparency and government accountability. His work with WikiLeaks, which disclosed critical information about the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, sparked global debates about the balance between national security and the public's right to know. However, it also led to severe legal repercussions, culminating in his incarceration in a high-security British prison since 2019, where he fought against extradition to the US on charges of conspiracy to obtain and disclose national defense information.
The emotional response to Assange's release is palpable. His wife, Stella Assange, expressed deep gratitude to his supporters, stating, "Words cannot express our immense gratitude to YOU - yes YOU, who have all mobilised for years and years to make this come true. THANK YOU. THANK YOU. THANK YOU,” in a heartfelt post on X, formerly known as Twitter. This acknowledgment highlights the power of collective advocacy and the unwavering dedication of Assange's supporters over the years.
Tumblr media
According to CBS, Assange will spend no time in US custody and will receive credit for the time he has already spent incarcerated in the UK. The plea deal, which requires him to plead guilty to one charge, is set to be finalized in a court in the Northern Mariana Islands on Wednesday, 26 June. This unique location, a US commonwealth in the Pacific much closer to Australia, underscores the unusual nature of Assange's legal journey.
The US has long argued that the release of the WikiLeaks files endangered lives, a claim that has been hotly contested by Assange's supporters and various human rights organizations. The debate over his actions and their implications for press freedom and government transparency has been one of the most significant of our time.
As Assange prepares to return to his native Australia, as confirmed by a letter from the US Department of Justice, the global conversation about press freedom and free speech is reignited. His case has underscored the crucial role that journalists and whistleblowers play in holding power to account and the significant risks they face in doing so.
Tumblr media
For many, including myself, this news is overwhelming. The fight for freedom of speech and the protection of those who dare to speak truth to power is far from over, but today's victory is a testament to what can be achieved through persistent and passionate advocacy. Assange's release is not just a personal victory for him and his family but a beacon of hope for journalists, activists, and free speech defenders worldwide.
As we celebrate this momentous day, we must also reflect on the importance of continuing to defend press freedom and the rights of individuals to expose wrongdoing without fear of persecution. Julian Assange's journey has been a stark reminder of the stakes involved, and his release is a powerful affirmation that the fight for truth and transparency is worth every effort.
In the words of Stella Assange, "Thank you" to all who have stood by Julian and advocated for his freedom. Today, we witness the impact of our collective voice and the undeniable power of solidarity in the face of adversity.

Hi! (Some of these are low toxixity, while others are potentially fatal) I spent the past 12 hours researching the different VERY COMMON household chemicals that you should never mix. Don't use this, these are not to be used for self defence or malicious intent. Stay safe:)
PARACETIC ACID [likely potential fatality]
×Peracetic acid is a highly corrosive and reactive chemical that can cause serious injury. It can be dangerous if inhaled, and high or repeated exposure can affect the liver and kidneys.
-Exposure-
Peracetic acid can be irritating to the eyes, mucous membranes of the respiratory tract, and skin. Exposure to PAA can cause lacrimation, extreme discomfort, and irritation to the upper respiratory tract.
hydrogen peroxide and vinegar = paracetic acid
>CHLOROFORM [potentially fatal]
×Chloroform is a substance that can be fatal if inhaled or ingested, especially at high concentrations or if taken too quickly
-Exposure-
Lower concentrations:
Dizziness, fatigue, light-headedness, nausea, confusion, and headaches
Higher levels:
Anaesthesia, changes in respiratory rate, cardiac effects, gastrointestinal effects, and effects on the liver and kidneys
Skin contact:
Rash, burning feeling, or dermatitis
Chronic exposure:
Liver damage, kidney damage, skin damage, and central nervous system damage
-Uses-
Chloroform is used recreationally, for suicide, assault, and homicide. It's also been used in occupational environments, manufacturing industries, and laboratories.
Bleach and Rubbing Alcohol = chloroform
>PHOSPHINE [high level Toxicity]
×Phosphine is a colorless, flammable, and highly toxic gas
-Appearance-
Pure phosphine is odorless, but technical grade samples have a strong odor of rotting fish or garlic.
-Toxicity-
Phosphine is a respirable poison that can cause serious effects at doses of 100–190 ppm, and can be fatal at doses of 400–600 ppm
-Hazards
Phosphine is heavier than air and can build up quickly in enclosed, low-lying, or poorly ventilated areas. It can self-ignite and explode.
Certain Pesticides and Water = phosphine gas
>CHLORAMINE [toxic, coma and death] ×Chloramine gas can cause a range of symptoms, including:
Coughing
Nausea
Shortness of breath
Watery eyes
Chest pain
Irritation to the throat, nose, and eyes
Wheezing
Pneumonia and fluid in the lungs
Glass Cleaner and Bleach = The combination of ammonia and bleach’s main ingredient, sodium hypochlorite, produces chloramine vapor
Ammonia and Bleach = chloramine
>CHLORINE GAS [potential fatality, but unlikely]
×Chlorine gas is a toxic, corrosive, and heavy, yellow-green gas with a strong, irritating odor:
-Appearance-
Chlorine gas is a yellow-green gas at room temperature, but it's a clear, amber-colored liquid when pressurized or cooled to below -30°F. -Toxicity-
Chlorine gas can irritate the eyes, throat, lungs, and skin, and it's harmful if swallowed. Chlorine gas can stay in the air for a few minutes to several hours
Different Drain Cleaners = Mixing different drain cleaners can cause the release of chlorine gas and may even lead to an explosion
Mildew Stain Remover and Bleach = chlorine gas
Lysol and Bleach = chlorine gas, The disinfectant Lysol shouldn’t be mixed with bleach. The bleach oxidizes the 2-benzyl-4-chlorophenol that is in Lysol, resulting in various irritating and toxic compounds
Oven Cleaner and Bleach = chlorine gas
Vinegar and Bleach = chlorine gas
Bleach and Lemon Juice = chlorine gas
Drain Cleaner and Bleach = chlorine gas

yeah, maybe you have an embarrassing story, but at least you didn't go to your boyfriend's house when you were 16 and hear about his uncle's annual trip biking from Washington to Alaska and loudly proclaim in front of his entire family, "You can't bike to Alaska. Alaska is an island!" and sustain that argument with your full chest against him, his mom, and his sister for a full family dinner until someone finally showed you a picture of the world map where Alaska is, in fact, attached to Canada and always has been...

Hey anyone living in Queensland Australia the government's got a survey out asking LGBTQIA+ communities what things we think should be prioritised to strengthen outcomes for LGBTQIA+ people in Queensland.
It should be noted that just last week they passed the Births Deaths and Marriages Registration Bill that recognises same-sex and gender diverse parents on a child's birth certificate and repeals the requirement to undergo sexual reassignment surgery to change the gender on your birth certificate (+ lets you change your name and gender at the same time in a two for one deal) just last week (14/07/23) so there's a decent bet that they will actually listen to what you tell them.
Also apparently QLD is trying to pass new hate crime legislation too so this is pretty important.
The survey closes 5pm, 19 August 2023.

im trying to respond to people on my post who have questions or are confused but theres just so many 😭 i dont know how to explain the intricacies of classism or how hard it is to get a lawyer to start and WIN a discrimination case. especially since i dont know australian laws. but like... this behavior, denying someone a job for their outfit, is really common across the world. classism is pervasive and it's dangerous and it costs people their lives. we would have to change the capitalist system, change policies across the globe, and work on our internalized classist beliefs for the rest of our lives.
#i think a lot of people are sharing the post in shock and horror. not knowing that this happens to people every day. which is really sad.#like. this is an issue that is literally ignored and swept under the rug. to the point where people dont think about it. even though like.#when you hear about Interview/Business Culture you know you have to dress well. everyone knows that's like step 1. but people havent#actually stopped and asked what the purpose of that is or what that means. people haven't considered what happens if you break that rule. or#why that rule is there at all... emily gwen said that they can't afford new clothing. and couldnt get the words out in the moment. but like.#imagine this from the interviewer's perspective. she saw someone who was 'unprofessional' because of their clothing. and that's fucked up!#WE know the situation because of their post. but they shouldnt need to justify their attire like that to get a damn job. we dont need to#know someones circumstances to treat them like a person. and i want everyone to really think about this. how many times in your life have#you seen someone with worn out clothes. dirty clothes. clothes with holes in them. clothes that are 'too casual' for their setting. and how#have you treated those people? how have you thought about them? and think about this in media. how many people with bad clothes are seen as#irresponsible? or treated like shit? this happens every day. and it's not australia specific or america specific either. it's everywhere.#so please show others compassion. this experience is traumatic and alienating. it's hard to reach out. its embarassing to talk about.#and it's even harder to get legal defense for this stuff. you need money and you need solid proof. oftentimes people have neither.#other things to consider clothing-wise: clothes that dont fit. too big or too small. modified outfits. clothes that dont match the weather#(like wearing a sweater in the summer or thin shirts/shorts in the winter). like. these are things people judge all the time idk.#what happened to emily was horrific. but it's not new and youre not immune to thinking the same way.#anis gaymer moments

I've been listening to "Time" by Beachwood Sparks from the Sandbox Sessions a lot lately. I've always been drawn to sweet pop in the Americana (I really don't actually like that label) style - The Jayhawks, Wilco, and The Autumn Defense are other examples.
Then, Rowan Smith's "Slow Clouds" came across my radar this morning. Smith was a member of Macguffins (Melbourne, Australia) in the late 80s and early 90s (Cloudberry Records has an excellent CD retrospective available).
After listening to "Slow Clouds" I almost immediately came across Misty Lanes "Colourless Green Ideas" on Third Eye Stimuli Records. Misty Lanes is the vehicle for the work of Steven Schouten. Bandcamp describes his music as influenced by The 13th Floor Elevators and The Kinks.
